Ok you asked... get ready, here I go.
The main page looks way too crowded to me. I cannot find a main point. The "Ph*toworld" logo is difficult to read (I guess it's the "T"), you have to look twice to realize the flower makes an O and compose. The font is way too similar to Disney's, make sure you can use it commercially.
Close to the logo, the daisy pic competes visually for your attention, so does the "rolling banner".
You have your motto " let the photography magic begin" lost in the middle of the page. I think it should be more prominent. Also the font is difficult to read and using so many different fonts on the same page makes even more so.
In my screen (FF, 1024*768) the POTD doesn't fit, the bottom goes out of the screen, so you have to scroll down to see it all. It should be seen in whole without scrolling.
The thumbnails aren't really so, but browser-resized full size pics using the "size" html tag. This leans to two problems: you cannot control how the browser does the resizing and how the pic actually looks, and even more important to me, it takes ages to load compared to a real thumbnails. to make thing worse, the one you download isn't the one you see when click on it, so it has to load again!!... Do the resizing yourself and save bandwidth. To me, this is a serious design flaw.
The very same goes across the whole site.
Of course, those are only my opinions. YMMV
cheers,
Carlos. |
