Ok, I think it would be totally cool to have folks submit their Scoring Model for the way they vote. A website called AfterNIC, which is for buying/selling domain names, offers a way to have your domain name evaluated for its worth if you were interested in selling it. Many members submit their opinion to the value of a domain (rmember that business.com sold for more than $7,000,000). These members are also allowed to provide a Valuation Model to show other users how they came up with such a value.

A second thought... I also think it would be cool to have different levels of reviewers. Like the folks that are subjective and leave good feedback could have a star next to their name to indicate that they are qualified to judge. I got this idea because I see some photos get ones or twos that are nowhere near benig terrible photos. I would rather just see what my score is from the Star Reviewers. hehe

I'm not too keen on rating the reviewers. Don't like elites, no matter how worthy.

I have been building websites for over 7 years. It's my job to build site traffic, increase desireable visitors, and create repeat visitors. Community foums like this is a great way to increase traffic and create brand awareness. Note, that not all visitors are wanted. However, if it gets plagued with immature babble and inappropriate voting, the quality photographers will leave and so will those who love the hooby and are serious about wanting to improve. You'll be left with nonsense. I've seen it happen.

One day this site may want to have sponsors to give out awards to the weekly winners. Maybe even start up a mini commerce site to reward the developer's efforts. By improving the caliber of the frequent visitor, the site owners can offer more to potential sponsors.

A Star Reviewer isn't necessarily the best photographers, just someone who can be trusted to be honest and has a little bit of technical knowledge.

It's just a thought. I expect many people to not like the idea.

Frequent visitors will quickly recognise who's opinions they value and who's they don't without a rating system.

Frequent visitors who disagree most of the time with the "star reviewers" will also not stay.

However, I DO like PhotoBlink's idea of rating the comments themselves rather than the commentators as people. In this way, a reviewer can build up a healthy and respected portfolio of opinions.

I don't particularly want to rate reviewers, but would love to see each member's vote distribution (how many of each vote they cast) in a graph on their profile page. It could look like the one each photo gets when the vote is completed.
