My beautiful cousin wearing a black shirt, in front of a black background.
Considering the fact that portraits is my weakness but my weakest type of photography, I will appreciate any comment on this one.

Thanks a lot!

Love to help, but people are my weakest area also, and I am sure others could give you much better advice than me! Looks beautiful to me. I think the lighting on her forehead might be less-than-perfect, but I am sure you know that. I think the pure black background is a matter of what you want ot achieve. Her neck is almost floating, and I honestly am not sure if I like it better for that or not as much. Great work, Adi!

First off... you have a lovely subject to shoot... I'm not sure exactly what look you are going for... but here are a few nits that are jmo...

1. the black shirt makes her look like she is a floating head... you might want a different colored shirt or light the shirt a bit...
2. her hair disappears into the background, you might consider a hairlight... maybe a back light to take care of both.
3. her neck is dangerously close to being too hot, drawing away from the face...

I think you have a good start in need of only a few minor tweeks, love to see more of them! Keep shooting, portraits are difficult... I love them and hate them all at the same time! LOL

this image feels overly processed, the skin shows no texture at all. other that that, I think this is a interesting image.

Basically the same advice, a little splash of light coming down from an angle above and behind her would put an nice outline around the shirt and hair so she's not so blended in.

Good start. I agree with the hair light and the neck being overexposed. Also it seems like the skin color is off. A little purple hue on my monitor. Try warming it up.

did you use neat image? the skin is unnaturally smooth.

First - thank you so much for your input!
As for the image itself - her's the story:
I was shooting with her for one of the challenges going, and for that I needed the black background.
There was hardly no light at all in the room. Just a very small (100w) desk-lamp lighting on a gold reflector at her side.
I took this one at a shatter speed of 3 or 4 seconds and she was so tires she barely held her head up.
That's why she looks floating. Didn't really mean to make it this way but I pretty much liked the way it turned up...

As for the hot spot of her neck, to be honest I didn't even noticed that :-/
Thank you all for pointing this out! I should be more careful about it while doing pp work. I suppose it has to be with the contrast boost.
The pp here is only a lot of contrast and neatImage.
Yes, the smoothness is probably from the neatImage. But as for the colors, I didn't fix anything. these are the colors of the cam in the light I was using. (the cam's setting was on +2 levels of contrast and +2 levels of saturation).
So I would love to hear some more input about which channels I should take care of.
Thanks a lot! I appreciate your comments greatly!

Could I just say that there seems to be a shadow under the bottom lip which I find a little distracting.
