Well, my jewelry ad entry ended up being my worst finish ever (percentile wise, not my lowest vote ever). I attempted to make use of a visual pun with my title:
The first letter of each line spelling the word "B-O-K-E-H" and the over-the-top bokeh in the photo, of course.
Only one commenter got the joke and everyone else appropriately voted me down for a poorly done picture. Glad this one's over. Move on!! |

i was suprized at my humorous one ..
- people seem to miss the point that advert's are not just for selling
but buying as well ..
i thought mine would be very effective -- and some stat's
43% divorce rate at latest numbers which means that there is alot of excess rings in circulation//... though my old ring (ya the papers were real) had no facets & was quite boring ... |

I did not expect much of a score from this image, but was really surprised at the number of great comments!

BTW, what was the red line? I commented on it myself. |

I liked yours. I think I gave it a 7 or an 8. |

Are you going to post a couple outtakes? I really likd yours but I wasn't too enthused about the piece of grass.
Edit: evermind. I just clicked on the picture and saw the outtakes. I like the second one best.

Mine received numerous comments about being too dark....and my recent "Mood" entry has already received a comment to the same. I've got to find a way to compensate for my laptop's LCD.
(this is a bit brighter version and hopefully portrays to everyone more of what I had seen on my screen)

At least none you had to endure the rash
of comments I received on this one:
Everything from
"hair hair and more hair..." to
"..this would appear to be a MAN, with a BEARD" and
"Should have gotten a woman to model..."
No more editing on my home PC/Monitor. |

The funny thing is...I liked how dark the overall picture was, just thought the ring could have been brighter. With the edited shot it appears to have some harsh bright spots now that it didn't have originally. |

I amdit, I didn't even notice the hair, I was trying to scope out the earing. I thought the overall picture was kind of dark to me. it didn't really stand out overall. but I don't wear jewelry, my wife doesn't wear jewelry, neither of us PLAN to wear any jewelry, so we're probably not the best to comment on these. Heck we don't even have wedding rings. Saved a lot of money with that idea. |

I just kept thinking of the poor slob who's wife or girlfriend, knocked his head off for making a connection between her, the gorilla and the piece of jewelry.
"Hey honey.......I saw this gorilla wearing this pendant around it's neck and I immediately thought of you. Happy Valentines Day!!!
WHACK!!!

I was way too busy grooving on the lighting of the rose and decided to leave the hotspot mostly because that's how the ring is. Just a big ole Skull head reflecting a large area of light.
Are there any home remedies for diffusing light? Someone mentioned the inner liner for shower curtains....has anybody tried that?
The person who made the piece is going to use this for a point-of-sales display and asked me to do two or three more so I may need to go pro for this one. Softbox, macro lens, Nikon SB-800.
Whoooosh! The sound of money being spent.......

get some theater gels at ~10$ a pop for a 20"x24" sheet they can be doubled up to add more diffusion ... |

Brad, I think voters had been a little had on you with their comments about hair .... I noticed it myself but it didn't bother me at all. I like your picture a lot and I'm still amazed of its sharpness. But I guess sharpness is not always you best friend ... ;) (you will have to teach me how to put real smiley here ...)

Brad, I refrained from commenting on that hairy ear! At least it unintentionally made people laugh: stick that ear on that gorilla...it's enigmatic sometimes, you try a picture and think it's really cool and suddenly things take a strange and bizarre turn.

I have to admit I was surprised at how well this did, considering I had very low expectations for it...!
And 54 comments, too!! |

I was so bummed to miss this Challenge (well... as bummed as possible while vacationing in Italy). Gemology was my first serious hobby, and I've designed tons of print ads, so this was right up my alley. Waiting patiently for Jewelry II. |

I feel your pain Brad.... one of my fist challenges had a similar photo and I got a few "hairy" comments. :-)

This calls for a Hair challenge! Special rules... the hair must be on a head, and not of an ear or nose. |

Or vice versa.
