I took my camera out to Pothole Dunes State Park last weekend for the minimalism contest and, predictably, I got a little sand on my camera. I was religious about keeping my lens cap on while not actively shooting, but I got some (I don't know how much) sand down the crack between the zoom/focus dial on the barrel of the camera and the barrel itself. I tried some things to try to get the sand out, but nothing has worked. It makes a really uncomfortable scratching sound and while I don't think it's doing any harm (right?) it IS annoying. I was wondering, has something like this ever happened to anyone else out there and, if so, what can I do to solve the problem short of taking my camera apart (although I may get annoyed enough to do that even)? |

Have a look at this link to see how you can take the F7x7 apart and get it back together again.
For cleaning the zoom ring you don't have to go all the way.
Best to print the pictures and attach the screws to it with tape at the right spot so you know which screw goes where. |
