Here are different crops for my Pi submission. Decided to go with an unusual crop... but people didn't seem to like it :)

If you were going to go with that wide of a crop, you should have gone for a 3.14:1 ratio. = )

I'd say a different crop would have scored you higher, and rightfully so I think. Cutting off the entire eyelash made that eye look somehow unhuman. I find myself picturing golem from The Two Towers.
Great shots of those incredible eyes though.

Well, I stand by my comment that I made during the challenge. I think your challenge crop was appropriate. Like wingy said, it makes it look "inhuman," which is perfect for the technologically mythic communication that seemed to be going on. I like how the narrow crop is an unnatural constraint, mirroring technology and many peoples' perception of math and geometry: we are twisting the world how we want it to be, but we are constrained by the limited understanding of the world. It is also almost like you are only letting us peek into the world of pi. Nice photo! It was my personal favorite of the week!
