First off I have to say I like this website....lots of stuff to learn and more than enough people willing to help out to answer questions. I'm new here so in some ways don't feel I should complain much so I still want to bite my tongue on a few things.
Concerning this challenge title Minamalism....I got the feeling from the start that this one was going to be interesting from the beginning in the judging end of things....Title and description were at odds with each other from the start....I did see that there was a challenge called surrealism were the three finalist seemed to know what surrealism was and it show in there photos...I don't know why the title if Minimalism in this challenge was handled differently.
I tried to be overly fair with my judgeing... I rated photos by how they would have stood up to the definition of Minimalism, how they meet the description of the challenge, on Technical merit and artistic vision. All four were each judged on a school of 1-10 as dpchallenge does, then took the average score of all of them.
I didn't think I would get anywhere near a 10 by this method but was very surprised that I had a few that land very close. I did find that I had scoresn between 5 and 9 with most other score right at 5 with a small had full between 3 and 5.
As it stands now I have voted on 39% of the entries with 10% with some sort of comment. I have to say I am fried on this. I most likly will vote on a few others before the end of the challenge but I will go through the thumbs very selectivly to do so....Sad to say there were way to many images to that looked the same to make judgeing interesting before bordom set in... On the positive side I think many people learnt something amist the confussion...Good talk in the forums about what is minimalism and lots of people trying their hand at it....

I agree Barry.
I found this one tough to vote on. After all the pre-entry discusion I'd hoped for better. Whether people stayed with actual minimalism or even the guidelines or met somewhere in the middle, I thought this challenge had great potential...at least be interesting but somehow it never jelled.
At 63% I've stoped voting due to boredom. I'll probably go back and vote on things that have spark when I get a chance but I'm not in any big rush.
I'm looking forward to Dreams.
