Buy a D70s and Nikon lenses and laptop dedicated to photography.

Buy a EOS-20D and fewer lenses and a laptop dedicated to photography.

Buy a EOS 1DMkII 3 non cannon lenses, used laptop.

I like to shoot everything and anything.

Things that are important:
a. for action frames per second.
b. quality of photo.
c. ability to view what is to be shot on a laptop for artistic and stills.

Go with the Nikon. Only get the D2x and skip the laptop.

Well, for action, there is no SLR on the planet that beats the 1D MK II. That said, unless you know that having the 8 fps over 5 fps is critical, the 20D seems to be a better choice.
In lenses you most often get what you pay for; it seems counterproductive to upgrade to a 1-series body and downgrade lenses. For action photography especially, AF performance will be a big deal. Cheaper lenses often are noticeably slower in the AF department, which is not a big deal for static subjects, but for action it's a killer.

Eric's 20-35 (a great lens) and his D-100 would be a great place to start, you can always upgrade the body later and keep the D-100 for a backup; it's a very nice camera, better than the D-70 in my opinion. He's got an attractive price on the package, I been trying to buy it but it turns out he doesn't do financing, LOL.

I would go with the EOS-20D and the laptop. I did, and couldn't be happier.

I have an EOS-20D and a HP Pavilion zd8000 laptop. The laptop is a BEAST. 17" bright widescreen, crisp colors. 2 gig of memory, 256mb video card. It is an incredible laptop... althought not the most portable. But portability wasn't my chief concern.

I can't say enough nice things about the 20D. Excellent camera, good build quality, would recommend getting the battery grip. With the battery grip it will look and feel more like the more expensive 1D and 1dS MK II's.

I would go for the following:

Canon EOS 20D
Canon 24-70mm F/2.8L
Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L
Canon 1.4x Teleconverter
3 - 1GB SANDISK Extreme CF Cards
Bogen/manfrotto Tripod 3021 Legs/ 486RC2 Ball head

Apple 17" Powerbook - 1.67Ghz (It's now able to support the 30" Apple Cinema HD Display). I would get at least 1GB of RAM, 100GB HD, ATI 128MB Video Card

Adobe Photoshop CS2

Carry Cases for the laptop and camera
