Maybe a silly question, why are some pics to be validated during a challenge? Does it mean someone accuses you of cheating/commiting an illigal processing? Who decides on what is to be validated?

Yes and Site Council

Good question. I noticed one image yesterday in minimalism saying underneath of it that it had been vlaidated or verified.

Site council decides and anybody can get a "photo has been validated" tag on their photo. People do this to make sure they do not get DQ'd. It doesn't mean someone has accused you of cheating.

You can request pre validation if you think your entry is questionable.

if your submission has received a dq request, the SC will go back and take a look at your submission. if it's not possible to make a determination of a rules violation, the SC _may_ request the original file for validation.

the SC will then look at the file you submit and analyze it for a rules infraction.

if you've received a proof request and done nothing wrong then just send it in (with a description of your post-processing steps) and everything will be fine.

in addition to that, any photo that has had a dq request and since been verified will also have the "validation" text appear on it throughout the rest of the voting period.

Actually, that's not quite accurate. Any photo that has had significant requests about the validity of the shot/processing will generally have the message, but not every shot that is validated does.

How do you request a pre-qual?

I just want to also add that you cannot request validation on your image simply to try to boost your score. If you request validation on your own photo, there needs to be a valid reason. Usually only when the photo is getting comments that the photographer used some illegal effect or illegal editing will we give out the note.
