294 people did not find my comments helpful.... no, I think alot of these folks do not take the time to check those little boxes that indicate the value of the comment....
I said some time ago - in a forum discussing limiting entries to a certain number....
"What do you think about having the ability to make a submission to a challenge based upon your feedback given to feedback received ratio?
It seems that an overwhelming number of people give a minimal amount of feedback especially when this number is compared to the feedback they receive.
I think in addition to participating in the challenges part of our responsibility to the community is that of leaving feedback. I definitely think that these two things should be somehow tied together."
I still think that the value of comments need to be emphasized. What do you think?

Brad -I read your comment earlier where you were saying that you were attempting to commnet on all the jewelry photos and then start on the next challenge - this is awesome!!!
I love getting comments - I have definitely been able to benefit from some of them.... |

Hehehe - Yup - a monster - with the breath to match!
It hit me a while ago what wasn't working around these parts, and constructive comments were the weak spot.
I'm already ahead on given vs. received and have no problem qualifying for the invitational, but will still stay at it in a pay it forward fashion on this site.
And why?
A year ago, armed with the same camera I have now, I entered my first "snapshot" in a challenge.
A year later, I am very close to crossing a major milestone: Top Favorite Photographers List
That would never have happened if it weren't for the amazing amount of knowledge others have been willing to share.
Priceless.

Just something to think about. Don't let the speed of commenting compromise the time you use reviewing the picture. Not saying anyone is doing that but sometimes it happens. I have not commented on nearly as much as most of you but I'm getting there. I have to take my minimum of 30 seconds to look at each picture before I comment. Thats just my way of doing things and I have been doing for a while now. It helps me see the complete picture.
