so I have a RS60-E3 remote switch.

I want to extend the cable. I am not interested in a wireless switch.
I want to extend my monopole to capture above shots without using a ladder, or doing some balance act on some structure.

A cable extension would fit the bill just right.
Is there such an animal? Does Radio Shack have something? should I carry a ladder?

The Canon ET1000N3 Extension Cord might be what you're looking for.

[Edit: nope, nevermind, I don't think this will work--it's for N3 type connectors.]

thanks Nordlys.

One more question.
Is the remote switch water proof, resistant, or should I wrap it in plastic?

I have this. It is plasticky, but works absolutely fine. These guys will sell you a 3m cord version for $18 more. Otherwise, cut the lead in half and put in a 3.5mm socket connection, and buy cheap 3.5mm extension leads ad infinitum.

I did what legalbeagle suggested for my 20D remote cord.. I got a cheap clone one off ebay, chopped it in half and put some connectors in it so I can use a 3.5mm stereo jack extension cable for it. Works fine.

I did read somewhere that there is a limit of 20m on the cable. But if you want a 20m remote I dunno what you're doing... The longest I've used is around 5m long.

Cheers, Me.

Radio Shack does carry an extension that will work. It's about 5-6 foot when extended. Otherwise it is coiled like the old phone cords that stretch.

Take your cord into the store and match the fitting your self. The clerks gave up and said no, but I found it anyway. I believe it was in the stereo connectors sections.
