it seems that DPC has been getting more cliquey lately, at least in my opinions. Certain people, no matter how poor the image, I feel would always get advice, comments, critiques on photos just because of who they were.

I always struggle to get comments on photos not in challenges. I dunno, everything lately seems pretty cliquey to me. Just an observation from me.

"Cliquey" is everywhere, imo. Not just DPC. It's just how people are.

It could also be a case of who happens to be online at the moment. While it is true that cliques do exist I belong to none. Yet, I must confess that my bigger energy is dedicated to meet my commenting on the current challenges. This is something I feel is highly important because of the sparsity of comments.

What?? I thought we were part of the same clique. :(
I'm voting you off the island.

I have been trying to focus my attention to the challenges.

Member Challenge: Jewelry Advertisement
Stats:
You have rated 95 of 157 images (61%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 92 images (59%) in this challenge.

Still working on it.

This is after commenting on 250+ in the Abandoned Buildings challenge, and in between a power supply burning out the 2 hard drives our business runs on (5yrs of data), data recovery ($1,800), building a new PC for the office, software migration, upgrading mine, wiping everything and fresh installs, networking the 2 to work right, and still running the shop & fixing cars!

I take a break here when I can, and often as a diversion, get silly, then when relaxed a bit, try and comment on more challenge shots, etc.

Wish I had more time - some of us do with what little we have.

It's definately getting 'clique-y'. I think the new site council positions are clique-related too. Apparently, they didn't want someone on the site council who isn't afraid to tell it like it is. They must just want a bunch of zombies who do as they're told and are afraid to speak their mind. But, whatever floats your boat. ;-)

Add: Also, I think people tend to call other groups "cliques" when they feel as though they are being left out of it. If they are in the so-called clique, then they don't see it as a clique....if that makes any sense.

edit: grammar

Funny, I was thinking the same thing. I posted a thread on some photos I took today and bumped it twice and still no replys. That's not the first time that's happened to me. Then someone else does the same thing and it gets tons of hits. Not that it really matters. I'm still having fun and I'll continue to try to show off my shots when I get a chance to get out and shoot. :)

Hmmm - we are all "clique". We click here, we click there, we click everywhere. Then we show each other the results.

I remember you complaining about this a few months back (actually a few times before). I just took a look at your profile.

Seems you are getting attention and comments. Maybe you should try giving back some?

I know how you feel. Take the time to post something and ask for advice and watch it drop off the forum list. I donĂ¢€™t think people intend for this to happen. I understand that some may not have advice one way or the other or busy voting.

What would be interesting to see is if DPC could set up a forum where you could post a photograph and the poster would be bagged [like a commenter can do while voting]. No one would know who posted the photograph until the poster put the photo in his/her portfolio. They would have to put it in there workshop portfolio while getting comments.

I posted this in my second post back in like april 7th or so. I haven't been here that long so I was speaking just on forums in general. And I think cliques are in all facets of life.

Maybe we should have a challenge called cliques clicks and clickers.

You might try posting your photos in the "individual photography discussion" forum instead of "out and about" which is generally used to arrange outings.

Actually, we wanted someone who wasn't rude and insulting to other people when things didn't work out their way.

Is that what the workshop folder is for in the portfolio, you can put photos there and nobody sees them? Man, I'm such an idiot!! :)

Are you saying I'm rude or insulting to others when things don't work out my way?

Wow! Would be lots of fun if you post the transcripts of the SC selection debates! ;-)

So what your saying is, if I put a photo in my workshop folder, nobody can see it?
