Hello,
I am currently working on a personal website with a photography section. I only have 20 MB of space and want to share several dozen photographs. As of now, these photos are taking up too much space. They can fit, but don't leave enough space for other things I'd like to include.

I had Adobe Photoshop Elements on my old Vaio laptop. However, some time ago, a friend spilled a drink on it and I had to purchase a new computer. The new computer does not have Photoshop. By the way, it came with my old computer and therefore I do not have installation discs.

In any event, I recall that when saving photos in Adobe (as a .jpeg) it asks for photo quality. With 800*600 resolution, at the highest level (12, if I recall correctly), it would save the file with a size ranging from 400kb to 1 MB. However, if I chose a quality of 6-8, it was drastically reduced and the quality is hardly sacrificed.

Here is the favor I am asking: Is there anyone out there with photoshop whom I can send a zip folder to including all of the photos I would like to use, and could you save them all as a lower quality (6-8) so it won't take up so much space on my website?

Any help is very much appreciated.

Feel free to send them to me with the specs. bear_music@yahoo.com

You can also download for free irfanview (www.irfanview.com) and resize 'em yourself.

But I have a utility called jpeg cruncher that lets me batch process an entire folder to given parameters, so it's not a problem for me.

Download the GIMP (it's free) and use Image > Scale to resize the pics as you mentioned.

Good point. Get the GIMP. Do it yourself.

As a Linux-only sort of person, I've never used PhotoShop, but can also highly recommend the GIMP. You'll probably find it very useful for other things even after you've reduced your file sizes, so it's worth the download.

Irfanview has the same batch processing functions bear_music mentioned. It can make life much easier, sometimes.
