I took these picture in rome last weekend, I was walking around Rome without knowing the inauguration was taking place, so I didn't get to Vatican City until 4pm on the day of the inauguration wich started around 10am that day.

there were about 300.000 people left at st.Peters square when I got there but most of them were standing in line behind the pillars waiting for a blessing from the Pope (wishful thinking)

and then there are some other pictures I took walking around Rome.

Hey, nice shots, Dan! Looks like we might have crossed paths without knowing it... I was in Rome at the same time you were. ;-)

great pics, I wasn't as lucky as you, the Vatican Museum was closed on sunday when I went to the Vatican, and since I was alone there I didn't feel like takin' my 20D with the 70-200L IS outside at night.. too many troublemakers there after dark ;)
