It's not finished - I have LOTS of things to fix - but this is the basics of both the html and flash site.
I taught myself flash this past weekend.

//www.pictureinfinity.com/htmlthingy/index.html
Thanks - anyone need a website? I'm cheap! lol
(mostly kidding)

Very fancy with all the animations and sound... I don't know what the wedding demographic goes for in a site, but for me it's "how easily can I get what I came for with the minimum distractions".
As an example, one of the best designed sites to me is John Shaw's. But it's a totally subjective thing.
Either way, your site is definitely cool to watch, and I like the sequence you chose for the storytelling bit.

Our site now //www.pictureinfinity.com is probably what you're talking about more. We decided that this didn't fit our consumers in selling photography - our old site has like 8 pictures plus the gallery and this one has all this fancy stuff PLUS 16 pictures PLUS I'm not done the gallery yet. :)
So we're selling image and it's hard on a static page to show as much.

This probably goes back to your business posts, but how do you decide what fits your customers?

Very nice, I like Flash it adds to a sites functionality.
Heres one of my sites, me and a few friends use it to provide online proofing and ordering. Its easy to use in regards to uploading photos... at the point you upload photos it creates all the thumbnails and watermarked proofs for you. Saves time when your uploading several hundred photos at once. //digitalproofs.net/ try the proof code:BABY4 this is from a baby pageant me and my nephew shot last weekend. On occasion we get a few good ones in the mix... these are the ones parents love to buy. |

Thanks Gusto,
Actually I sell using Photoreflect, and it works really well for us - and adds the watermark too. :)
Loz,
We ask. What drew you in, what stunk about the whole thing (in nicer language). We ask and we view other websites. Those who are most successful in this business have flash and flashy websites - those who are not have sites that look like someone hand did it on Frontpage. (Frontpage SUCKS and you can almost always tell when someone used it).

Mavrik, I think your site is great - you've clearly put a lot of work into it! So please don't take it the wrong way, when I say that the line you wrote above reminded me of this web page I saw today. I work as a consultant for a big Swedish company where image is very important. It's not at the place shown in this link, but nearly! Huh? |

If you tought yourself flash in one weekend, and you can create all that from scratch, you are one in a million.

It's not from scratch - it's from a template. :) Definitely not as hard, but definitely not easy. And yes, I could do most of this from scratch pretty easily now.

lol Let's put it this way - there are enough of them in there that I can definitely make a site like THIS one again pretty easily. :) I've had to study how this one's built long enough!

If you can instantly pick up actionscript from working with a template such as this... and make another without using this template as a base... you should concentrate on flash actionscript development, not photography. You would make more money.
You should have just credited templatemonster.com to begin with, instead of posting as if it was original work. This discussion wouldn't be happening.
Imagine if someone had done this with a photo in a challenge...

My site has been up for awhile now, but totally my design. It was also a lot more simple to make then using flash and not as flashy...

I dont think it matters if he used a template or not. He never said that he didn't. Plus with most templates, even though you start with something, by the time you have spent several days on it, the template doesn't resemble what you started with. A hell of a lot of work still goes into it. Plus you need an understanding of the concepts to work it, and thats what was learnt here.

Thats a nice site. Did you do it yourself? I am going to add more to mine as I go. I just wanted to get the basic up as soon as I could...

As a software developer and freelance web designer, I am delighted to see someone using templates provided by another company and fully making it his own. The future of web (and Windows) development does not rest in the hands of the individual web developers charging clients $100/hour, but in the hands of the tool/template developers who make it easy and affordable for end-users to create great content without coding a single line or firing up Photoshop (other than to sharpen their pics :) ).
Nice site, marik. I would only say that, if possible, the scroll bars in the panes on the right should be a little bigger. On a large resolution screen, it's quite difficult to click and scroll that bar.
Other than that, my only gripe are my normal gripes for sites that rely on flash 100% for navigation (kills the back button, long download times, embedded text, etc.)
Edit: I commend you for providing an HTML version (or choosing a template that builds one for you).
