Hi, I found the critiques on my photo very helpful. People suggested that the colors were flat on my original image. I tweeked them in PS a little. What does everyone think of it now? Would you rate it higher had I done this prior to the challenge?

Certainly an improvement Jen: has much more punch, looks much less washed-out. You'd have got another point from me, I think.

You made a huge difference in your photo! I would have rated the new one 2 points higher, your changes made that much difference!

Oh my gosh!! This sight has really taught me a lot... the critiques, the forums, the tutorials... all helpful. I even find critiquing other's photos helpful. I see things differently now. Thanks to everyone!

Jennifer... It is an improvement and a interesting subject but I probably would not have changed my score. I gave it a 6 mostly on the strength of the composition rather than it's technical merit. What you did is a step in the right direction.

There are some other technical things you might have tried that could have gotten it a higher rating.
1-Saturate the reds, yellows and blues individually by about 10-15% each for more visual impact.
2-Use burn IN MODERATION (black around 10% opacity in a 50% greyscale overlay layer) for highlighting and to add texture to the image. That will give the image more depth and interest and be the biggest improvement. I would add highlighting to the schrubbery, the reflection, pillars and a little to selected areas of the dome.
3-Clone out the distracting dark clouds in the reflection on the bottom. The reflection is unbalanced with them included.
4-This seems small but it appears you need to rotate the image about 1% or so clockwise to make it level.

Combined with what you have already done I would have given it a 7.

Thanks for the great suggestions. I dont really know how to use the burn or dodge tool. I have tried it in the past, and I must have did it wrong because it looked fake. I read the tutorial, and the photo that person worked on was outstanding. I just need to read more on it to fully understand exactly WHERE to do that. The darker pink spots in the reflection were leaves in the water. I dont know why they look pink. I can easily clone those out. I agree, that would help. Thanks again to everyone for their help on this photo and their suggestions. I appreciate it!!

Jennifer... For number of reasons I don't use the dodge and burn tools of PS for dodging and burning. I use the 50% greyscale technique instead. There is a good tutorial for it here:
Dodge and Burn with 50% Greyscale Overlay Layer
