I received a few comments about me cropping wrong or adjusting the colors wrong. I just wanted to state that this is the fewest edits I have ever done on a photo for an entry.

My entry:

The orginal file straight from camera:

I also want to say that sometimes we all get caught up in the fact that everything here is extremely edited at full within the rules and we need to think sometimes. Just like I find myself now assuming that everyone here has Adobe Photoshop. I am not trying to be mean I really enjoyed getting the comments I received. They did help. I would have left it how it was and not even messed with the brightness or contrast. That is what comments are all about to me. Other eyes working for me. Also a public thank you to everyone that took the time to comment on my entry and everyone elses. I was especially happy with this one because I really didn't need to edit it much to be happy with it.

Regarding color...
Just because you did not make any color changes does not mean that the image does not need it. The camera does not always record all colors correctly, especially if the white balance is not set properly for the conditions. It appears to me and other commenters that the dandelion does have a green hue and needs a color balance adjustment. IMO, that is the biggest issue with this image.

The terms 'crop' and 'frame' are used interchangeably in DPC comments. In most comments you can replace the word 'crop' with 'frame' and it means the same thing. The one commenter was suggesting you 'frame' the image on the right side rather than the left. Another suggested 'framing' it only slightly further to the left to get all the petals in.

The center of the dandelion is not on a standard rule of thirds line anyway and that could have subconciously triggered 'framing' comments. The centerpoint could also be cropped to be centered on an upper or lower 1/3 intersection point for artistic effect. (Although that didn't much help my flower entry in this challenge. LOL )

I was stating that I did little editing. I thought the one that came out of camera was much better. I don't see any bad coloring there. As far as rules of thirds I know all about them but who says you HAVE to follow them. Again I am not being mean I did say I appreciated all commments.

The colors do seem a little greenish instead of nice bright yellow. As for the composition, it does seem to lack balance to me. The main reason I didn't give it a higher score is that it is a fairly ordinary subject and there wasn't anything creatively done with it. It's a nice picture, but not at the level of creativity or originality as many of the others.

I am fine with the score. There are plenty of better photos in that challenge and am very happy with its placing. I just wanted to share the fact that this is virtually out of camera and how we tend to think everything is edited.

rex, if you are appearing at an exam, everyone would assume that you have read the text and come prepared. Now its upto you what you really do :)

What your camera gives is also edited, but its edited inside your camera depending on settings you defined; saturation, brightness, white balance ...
