Until recently, I have been shooting large jpeg on my Digital Rebel. I finally got a 1GB memory card, so now I have the room to shoot in RAW while still having room on the card for a decent amount of shots.

I have been using iPhoto on my G4 iMac to import all my photos. But with RAW, that obviosly cannot be done. I know that my Canon came with a program that processes RAW files, as does Photoshop CS (which I have).

I was wondering if anyone uses an application to import and manage the RAW files to get them off of the memory card, and then individually process them later when I have the time.

I just use zoombrowser from Canon to get them off the memory card via a card reader.

Actually, the newest version of iphoto can import and handle raw files (for browsing)
for editing, try www.bibblelabs.com, or i recently got Capture One by Phase One and it works great.

I believe that the new version of iphoto can handle RAW files, but have not really looked into it (dang! beaten to it on that part). I have set Image Transfer to be the default application to open when a memory card is mounted. You can choose to download all or some of the files and it creates custom icons based on the .thm files, too. Image Capture is in applications and you can set it under preferences to be the default.

I use iPhoto 5 to import and view all of my RAW files. Then I select the ones I want to work with and process them in Photoshop CS. It works pretty well for me.
