Wasn't sure which forum to use -
Installed a second harddrive for pics. Not sure if to use it JUST to store photos or if to also load all my image editing software on the second drive also. If I do - can I just move (or copy?) the programs with Window explorer or should I reload the software into D then if working remove from C drive - or should I I keep all the software on C and just store photos on D - thanks in advance for any help/advise/opinions.

When you install software an entry is put into the registry so to move from one drive to the other you'll have to uninstall on one and reinstall on the other (this is the safe way). You may be able to edit the registry but who knows where all the pieces are to move.

There's more than just the executable to think about with regards to installed programs.

I would leave your software where it is and just put your images on the new drive but that's just me.

Even if you do as Colette has explained if you are using Windows. When you install the software on the slave drive it will install a file or two on the c drive anyway. Windows has to have something there to know where to go. I would suggest just leaving your program where it is and use the extra drive for storage. That is what I do. All software is on the c drive and any files or photos saved are put on the other drives.

Thanks James & Colette I think I'll take your advice and use the slave for storage.
