I don't know what is involved in the coding to do this but I would like to be able to organize my favorites in folders that I can name. Kinda like my own portfolio. Not only the photos I have but the photographers also. This would help anyone who has GTGs as they could put the locals they got together with in a local folder. They could also add a friend folder for people they talk to frequently outside of DPC. What does everyone else think?

Rather than have mine in folders I'd like to be able to assign custom made category codes to images - kind of like Outlook which lets you create custom categories and assign items (such as Contacts) to them. You can assign items to more than one category.

So for example I'd have

Friends . . . GTG images
Ideas & Inspiration . . . Would like to buy . . . . Intriguing
Black & White . . . . Colour
Abstract . . . . Landscape . . . Wildlife (and other content-type ones)
For photogs where I have a number of theirs selected, I'd create tags for the photographer too

PS What I want even more though is the ability to organise my Prints portfolio both by folder and by custom display order... that's something I want much much more...

I also would love to be able to do this.

Nobody else likes this idea?

Hello

I like this but I prefer Kavey's alternate idea for arranging prints. If I were to prioritize that would be my first choice.

I would really love to be able to organize my favorites.

Thank you Rex for your reference. Didn't mean to steal your idea! :-)

I think that orgenising our favs is a weonderful idea!
I add photos to my favs for many reasons. Some are photos I just love, some are technically amazing, some I would like to try myself...
So more then often I visit my favs page, trying to locate a certain photo.
I think this task would have been easier, had I placed each photo in it's appropriate folder.

Folders was what I was leaning towards. This way I can put locals in a folder, then like you suggested stuff I'd like to try, etc.

Agree so much with this suggestion that I thought I'd give it a BUMP.

the only thing I don't like about folders is that an image can only go in one folder. Kavey's keyword/tag idea would let you, for example, tag an image as a print, a challenge entry and a macro.

I find keyword tagging helpful because I can then filter to view images with a specific tag whenever I want to but also easily view all images or images in a number of categories together too.

Because several images would fit into more than one category I'd prefer to do it that way than folders.

But, as I said, still think it would be something that would benefit DPC Prints even more - heck even a manual way of setting display order (as has just been implemented in the new profile page) would be a start.

I see your point Dave, but mainly what I'm after is SOME way to organize the photos I mark as favorites. Maybe there's some way to combine the concepts of Folders and Keywords, whatever. Hopefully others agree and will chime in and support the concept.
