Or just a bad photo?
What I found so stunning about this image was the tree's resemblence to a curvy woman's silouette. As only one comment I received seemed to hint that they saw that, I'm wondering if most voters saw just a tree and moved on before looking closer.
My entry.
Some outtakes.
I know it's not a technically perfect photo. I had to shoot into the sun and lose foreground detail, or shoot on a cloudy day and have that blown sky. Might just be a limitation of my current skill level/equipment level/photoshop ability, I don't know. I thought I'd place higher than I did though.
Any constructive thoughts or words of encouragement? Thanks. :) |

...oh, the photo - well, I am put off a little by the crop and angle (on all). Too tight - can't breathe. Other than that, the lighting seems good and colors are nice.
I did not see a woman in your photo, but I did see one in BradP's shot (at the risk of hijacking your thread):

Jennifer - I did not comment on yours during voting but I do remember the photo. The title made me look for the "she" in the shot and I did see it in the trunk of the tree. I just don't think that was enough here as the photo offered many other distractions with lighting, the willow branches and the bridge. Maybe if it was taken at a different time of the day so the light was more subtle and / or it was cropped portrait to accentuate the trunk and just a few of the willow branches. Just MHO of course. Keep at it.

I certainly do see the curvy lady in the trunk but I think where the photo could be improved is with a more narrow DOF and blurred background to highlight the tree more. It's too busy a pic, imo. Also, I think the trunk could have been lit better with some fill flash to see some texture and put more emphasis there.
