I recently started having trouble reading data DVDs from the drive in my laptop- my husband found out that it might be a BIOS issue, so he flashed the BIOS. The problem with the DVDs is still there (further inspection shows that I have some corrupt files on my DVDs. Damn. Those were good photos too.) In addition I am having color weirdness.

I calibrated my monitor just before the people challenge, using my Colorvision Spyder, and now I'm finding that every time I restart my laptop it's not using the new profile. When I go into the display settings and click on the "color" tab, it suddenly flips to using the new profile. It even shows that the new profile is set to be the default. Any idea why it wouldn't just automatically use the new profile on startup? Should I roll back to the previous BIOS?
