Dayum, all this talk of 20Ds and the lack of a less-expensive and smaller 1.3-crop alternative to the 1D MK II has me thinking about the 20D.

Just out of curosity Langdon, where did you wind up buying your 20D? Obviously got it quickly. Get a good deal? What lens(es)?

The final price tag with 2-day shipping @ $36 was $1504 for the 20d (1399) and 50mm (69). I've got to be sending in my rebate now. I received it yesterday (missed the damn FedEx guy by 15 minutes and had to drive 30 minutes outta my way to get it)!

Ooopps... my bad missed the first part of that post.
Sounds to me like you did pretty good, except for missing the delivery guy, lol.
Enjoy it on your vacation, and show us some great pics when you get back.

I'm just reading over this thread - trying to get ideas on places to buy a 20D.
Ritz Online has it for $1249 after rebate. With no tax or shipping charges - and deferred payment for 90 days. B&H also has it for $1249 - but shipping is extra. I had good luck with B&H years ago with my 8001 film SLR.
Though, I have seen it other places cheaper - I'm a little wary about buying at some random online location.
Is Ritz online an ok place to buy? How about experience with their warranties? I would like a place with reasonable customer service.

Based on Rit'z ResellerRatings.com rating, I'd never buy from them. Buy from B&H, 17th Street Photo, even Adorama, but do check out the business on the above referenced site prior to spending your hard-earned cash with any of them. |

Thank you - I read just the first page about Ritz and it looks horrible. Definitely not worth the $15 shipping from B&H. I think B&H will probably get our business again. Though, I am going to check the other two places you referenced.
Can't wait to join the Canon club!
