just a reminder, DC is HOT AND HUMID in the summer. Temps can get in the high 90's with 80% humidity so dress accordingly. The nights are generally decent high 70's, so perfect for the evening shoots.

Dang it!! Thought I might be getting a break from all the yucky muck down here in the south. :-) Oh well, at least I'm used to it. Thanks for the heads up.

Just in case you don't believe anything without statistical support, here's Weather Underground's report from their Trip Advisor: Hot, Hot, Hot! |

Yes, well perhaps I should rephrase. How about squalid cesspool?? We have no cesspool on the site do we? Good, squalid cesspool it is.
Let me please state that our Muckpond is NOT yucky. At least I'm pretty sure he's not, as I've never personally met him. Perhaps I should leave it up for review until after the GTG. No, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that he is definetly not yucky. Now muck, in general, is quite yucky. Hence, my original statement. :-D
There will be NO yucky muck at the GTG, let me repeat... NO YUCKY MUCK. That is all.... :-) Many apologies, Muckpond. ;-)

PLEASE, pm or email pm or email me with when you are arrivign in DC, and a contact number so that Clara and Terry can contact you in DC.\
If you are staying in a hotel, please let me know which one :)
All phone numbers will be put in a small list for Clara's use only. |

Okay- the long awaited schedule. :) Due to the number of people being unable to firmly commit, I had to drop several ideas that required specific permits.
Friday: Arrival Day. No specific shooting plans for the day. Dinner at Steve's at 6pm. I strongly urge everyone get there earlier. Driving 270 at rush is just not fun. Dinner concludes at 9. This is because the Terry contingent has a 2 hour drive back to PA, and we have a ton planned for Saturday.
Saturday: We have three planned AM events starting at 9am.
1) National Zoo
2) National Mall area (Smithsonian, Monuments durning Day)
3) Downtown DC (A walkaround the DC metro area exploring various nooks and crannies. Includes the Navy Memorial, White House, Ford's Theater)
Everyone gets to pick one from the menu. :) Remember that Saturday is going to be a very, very long day. The AM event will end by 2pm. From 2 until 5:30 I STRONGLY urge naptime. If you miss naptime I'm gonna have no sympathy for you at 3am. :)
Meet back up at 6:00 PM at Metro Center station. Walk down to the Mall area for twilight/later afternoon shooting.
Dinner at Union Station at 9:00 PM at Uno.
Night shoot starting at 11:00pm. We will break back into our three groups- this allows us to rotate through all memorials without having 40 of us with tripods around to annoy Park Police.
1) Jefferson Memorial
2) World War 2 Memorial
3) FDR Memorial
These are the ones we are hitting first. All three turn lights off around 1am. After 1am, we will rotate down to Vietnam, Lincoln, and Korea.
Then sunrise at the memorial of your choice.
Stagger back to hotels/lodgings for sleep. :)
Sunday- Arlington National at 1pm. Cause we are all going to be tired!
We should finish up at Arlington around 3ish.
Sunday night- Clara collapses into a small ball of goo. ;)
As you can see- the schedule is pretty organic. This is done to allow people the chance to explore as they wish. There's also a good bit of downtime built in on purpose. Shooting overnight is hard on the old body. Take advantage of scheduled rest time to do just that. Don't forget it gets beastly hot in DC this time of year.

There's this whole I can't nail down accurate numbers for a possible group which is making the Office of the Architect annoyed. :/ This is what happens when people keep telling me, "I can come, no wait I can't come"
You can't just drop in on the Capitol day of and say, "btw I need a permit."
Sorry guys. I tried. |

Sounds great Clara. I'll make one of these. I want to meet as many folks as possible, and this is the only time I'll have there. If there is an early dinner with the whole group planned or any such thing, that would ideal. Otherwise, I'll just have to join you all for 'naptime'!
Thanks, by the way, for all of your effort. Even if I am only dropping in, I appreciate it immensely, as does everyone, I am quite sure. Clara's a champ, ya'll. I learned at the Cherry Blossom gtg, and repeat it here, that when it comes to Clara, we're not worthy!! (She likes it if you repeat that under your breath in the form of a chant, heh heh).

Wonderful! How many people are you expecting for dinner? I can whip up some Corn casserole or some Broccoli casserole, which ever you'd like, for the dinner for friday and bring it down with me =)

Thanks for the offer Jeremy, but being a chef-in-training, I have offered to do the dinner (with a little onsite help from a group of volunteers). Dinner is already taken care of. But thanks for the offer.
