Blaimed or not the stock opportunites brought me (I only own a Canon A70) $100USD from shutterstock
There is another site that is offering the possibilities to earn some bucks in micropayment. If you are interested check it out
bigstock

I know this have been disscused many times on this site but for people like me in need for cash it's worth to give it a try.

Good luck and happy earning with your hobby!

Thanks for the reminder. I had uploaded one photo at Big Stock (haha, see I can pimp my link, too) a number of months ago to check it out and forgotten that it was there. I'm $6 richer now, apparently. The reason I didn't continue with them was that there was no mechanism for removing your own photos - you had to email and request them to be removed. I'm not sure if they've changed that yet but I also see that now they have a rule that says you can't remove your photo for 90 days, even if you terminate your account. Is this common?

yes, though it varies from agency to agency. i've also seen 30, 45, and 60 day periods.

Your welcome! I am happy to point it up and let you know you are $6 richer :)
They have upgraded and now there is even a very convenient FTP upload.
After uploading you can also delete yoour pics with the same requirement (90 days)
I must admit they do not compare (still) with shutterstock in terms of earnings.

I am not an English native speaker but does pimp have the very original meaning here? I guess yes! LOL

Another bump. Seems that fewer and fewer people are interested in stock here.
Do you know other ways to earn money with your hobby?

At some point earning money with your hobby makes it a job, not a hobby ;)

I am working at getting into wedding photography, and possibly some portraiture. The real b*tch is getting a portfolio together...this takes time and money.

Don't care to earn pennies......and have my photo everywhere.

My problem is that I only own the A70 and I would really like to find a way to get some extra cash for a dSLR upgrade. Then I think it will be a totaly different story (IMO at least).
Good luck with your portofolio!

Maybe if the aganecy has MP limitations, but I suspect that with good technique that Canon can take very good quality stock photos. Cameras make you more consistent, but they don't necessarily improve your photos.

I started with iStock some weeks ago. So far I've earned 1,90USD with 6 downloads. I'd have a bit more if my picture were just 5,4% bigger...
They have accepted almost everything I've entered, except for some dinosaurs which they classified as statues (copyright issues).
I've read many older threads about stock agencies, and I have to admit that many arguments are valid. The one I had to think about most is that my pictures are worth more than .20 . Unfortunately, I don't really have a chance of selling any prints at all, so this is at least a little somehting.
My portfolio ;)

With my A70 and its 3 megapixels I am happy with my 113$ at SS and 15$ at Bigstock.
After I can get a better camera (not that A70 is bad!!!) I will reconsider the value of my pics.
