I'm looking at picking up the Canon 580EX Flash and Beach Camera has a good price (as far as pricing goes for a Canon flash). They're also offering a $20 rebate which brings the price down to $349. Has anyone ever bought from this outfit? Are they trustworthy?
Thanks,

Resellers ratings seems pretty good, if this is the correct place.

I bought the DRebel, 50 mm f1.4 and 75-300IS from them. No problems... I even got the triple rebates. They had the lowest combined price too.

I've purchased things from them with no problems. I would recommend them.
Also, it's acually Canon offering the rebate. You should be able to get that at any autorized dealer. |

I bought my Rebel, and two lenses from them. All without any problems. I'd highly recommend them.

a few years ago i bought a generic brand mirror for my nikons from Beach. they sent the lens in a Pentax K mount. When I complained they stated that their ad stated that substitutions were allowed for out-of-stock items. They wanted 20% restocking fee to return the lens. I'll never do business with them again.
I could buy a house with the money i have spent with both B&H and Adorama over the years, and never had any trouble with either. |

I had a bad experience trying to buy a camera from BeachCamera.com. They are not affiated with the brick & mortar store(s) that go by the same name. I don't think there is anything more to BeachCamera.com besides an order taking website. Maybe they are owned by BuyDig.com, or some other online only camera seller. Despite what others have said in this thread I would urge caution, and comparison shop for total cost including shipping etc., not just on advertised prices. For sure you can get better deals elsewhere on accessories and extended warranties.

I don't think so. In the upper right corner of their site, it says, "Come Visit Our Retail Store; 203 Rt 22 East Greenbrook, NJ".

I bought a camera at that store. They are a very good outfit. That's why I tried to buy from BeachCamera.com. The website experience was as bad as the store was good.

There website could use some work in appearance and clarity and detail...
But I saw there ratings. And you don't get a 9+ rating easily. I think Dell.com has a 4 rating.
I am sure that there are mistakes. And in truth, if you have a problem where a store won't return a mis-shipment. Always ask to speak to a supervisor or a different rep.

If the one your talking about is on Route 22. I was a little disappointed when I went their. Not your average "camera store". I was there a few years ago and it wasn't very appealling. The store was a mess. The people were not friendly and they did not to appear to have a lot of stock. But that was a few years ago, things may have changed. I prefer to goto B&H or Ritz Camera. I know that Ritz Camera will match the price of their competitors if they can prove it. |
