Okay- so for most folks April is not the time of year to complain about the heat. But ever since I was small, I've had rotten heat tolerance. The first hot day of the year, I get tired, grumpy, overheated, go through about a gallon of water and a gallon of Gatorade. I sleep poorly, and I spend the next week or so complaining about the heat.

This year, hot season came early. We hit 85F yesterday. Not so bad until you understand that I can't open my windows wide (due to my cats and the whole living 5 floors up thing). Anyway- trust me- no open windows. And I have a southish facing exposure with floor to ceiling windows the whole way across that wall.

My apartment turns into a greenhouse. And it was hot yesterday. It's still 70 degrees in the apartment at 6:40 in the AM. I hate this time of year. And worst- they don't turn on the AC for at least another 4 weeks.

*sulk* It's hot, and this sucks.

Clara- baked blemt on the menu today...

lol *comfort* I thought my Jeep had AC when I bought it in the middle of the winter 2 years ago -- the heat switch goes from blue to red. I mean, what 2003 vehicle didn't come with AC you know? Well, apparently mine didn't. It's not so bad when it's nice out, but couple a rain storm with some nice 90 degree super humid weather, and my Jeep is horrible.

Clara,
As a southerner used to early heat, I've a couple of suggestions that may help. At night (or whenever you try to sleep), get a medium sized bath towel or large hand towel and wet it down. You want it it just slightly more than damp, but not dripping. Lay on your stomach under a ceiling fan (or nearish to a box fan) and spread the towel over your bare back. Works really good to relieve your body from the heat while you sleep.
During the day, there's a similar but easier solution. Go to Wal-Mart or a sporting goods store (or order online) and look for something called Mira-Cool. It comes in wrisbands, neck bands, neckerchiefs, and I think in vests. (You can also look online at industry supply places - this stuff is made for guys who work outside in the hot hot hot and need to not keel over from heat stroke.) Anyway, what you do is wet this stuff down and it keeps you cool all day long. GREAT stuff to beat the heat.
Hope this helps!
