If you already have the profile made you just need to add it in the system. Are you Mac or PC? |

Mac -- put the profile in Library--ColorSync--Profile folder. Then start Photoshop and it will be found.
PC -- give me a minute and I'll find it.

for PC add the icc file to this folder
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Color\Profiles\Recommended
then launch Photoshop and it will be in the profile list.
Just a tip: Paper profiles still print differently on different machines. The best way to get accurate results is to create a profile with the paper you will be using on the print equipment that you will be using.

I am using a Mac and the profiles I want to add are profiles from Ilford for Ilford paper, these profiles are for Mac, for photoshop, and for my printer epson 2100/2200, so these are very spesific profiles for my setup.
I´ve copied these profiles to all directories named colorsync, profiles, and some other folders, I just can´t get photoshop to load them, I only have one Ilford profile in photosop, that is the original that comes with ps, the Ilford heavy paper. I want the Ilford smooth pearl profile to show in photoshop..
hope this makes sence :) |

If you are running Windows XP, put a copy of the profiles in C:\Windows\System32\Spool\Color. Restart Photoshop And they ahould be in your profile list. |

I had some problems with this when I first loaded Photoshop on the Mac. Try adding the .icc extension. I know this shouldn't work, but I got it to by doing this. I create profiles using Profile Maker and automatically add the extension on; haven't had a problem since.

Personally, I never, ever print from PS or any other app. except QImage, a really fantastic printing application, and get my custom profiles for my favorite paper/ink combos from Cathy's Profiles. Color fidelity is never an issue anymore. Of course, a properly calibrated monitor is essential in the workflow.

Profile Maker is a program by GretagMacbeth, it is used to write the profile, but as I understand it you already have a profile. Did you make it or did you purchase a profile? What form is it? If it is still a txt file it is only the data and needs to be converted into the icc profile by way of Profile Maker, or another profile program. If not, it will be an icc or icm profile. Just place it in the appropriate folder and run with it.
Hope this helps

I agree with jemison. It doesn't matter how much you spend on a profile. It will be worthless if the monitor is not properly and consistantly calibrated. Also, if your scanner has a calibration option it should be used as well.

Be sure you are putting it in the right place. adding .icc can work also...alot of mine have the .icm and work. You can take it all the eay off if ya like.
You need to put it in your logged in account. ie:Hard DIsk/Users/DanSig(your account on the Mac)/Library/Colorsync. Put in there.

dacrazyrn, I tried putting them in my user account and they wouldn't show up in photoshop. The only place I can get to work is the Library/ColorSync/Profiles folder. Have you had luck using the user folder? or is this info that you found somewhere? Just curious.

i've tried putting my paper profiles in both /library/colorsync/profiles and in /users/dansig/library/application support/adobe/photoshop/profiles (and all other directories I've found on my harddrive named profiles)
so now I have about 20 copies of my paperprofile spread all over my harddrive but nothing works, I got some of the paper profiles I added to show up in the colormanagement part of printing along with adobe rgb and sRGB, but they don't seem to show with the other paper profiles.
the profiles are .icc and are only ment for photosop for mac, and only for the epson 2100/2200 printer, just the setup I have, and I can't get it to work.
I had a confirmation photoshoot yesterday and my first wedding photoshoot is on may 14, and I really need my printer to print the correct colors, all my prints have a really nasty shade of green as is. and even if I add to the saturation of the red channel and desaturate green and yellow, I still get a green shade :(
anyone that can help ?
and my monitor IS calibrated, I have the gretagmacbeth EYE-ONE and calibrate every 2 weeks. |

Went through and looked at all the places that I have them....only have them (I loaded) in the /USER/Library/Colorsync file---and HardDrive/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Color/Profiles/.
You can also go into the Utilities and open COlorsync Utility and Profile and it will show you where everything is. Also running Profile First Aid on them might help.
I believe... that you have quit PS CS after putting them there and restarting it? (C:
DanSig: I think you were close, but putting them in the Main Hard Drive/Library/applicationsupport(as above) area instead of the USER, may do it.
