I was wondering 2 things - How would a shot like this done in the people challenge and which do you like better - the uncropped version or cropped?

Thanks - I am sure most Americans have never seen a Cuban Police man - it was kinda a tuff shot since they do not want to be photographed but I took this with my 100-400mm IS L lens from quite some distance and got to keep my camera :P

Depends on what you are trying to convey, but from a general standpoint the dropped image is stronger. In most cases there is a generic piece of advice that works: If your images aren't good as good as you'd hoped, get closer.

I am not really worried about getting closer as I can get closer with this amazing lens - I am more wondering about the crop...

Your shots are of a person, not of people, so you would be taking a gamble. You can count on some voters marking it down for that reason alone. How many and how much is anybody's guess. But you would be foolish not to expect some loss on that point.

Details: Formal and informal portraits, candids, group shots ΓΆ€“ just ensure that 1 or more people are the focus of your image.

I agree with Discraft - 1 person definitely qualifies for the People challenge -

I just thought that the shot looked like a real classic shot and worthy of the challenge.

I would still love to get feedback on what crop if any looks best...

The orignial did have a person bent over in front of the motorcycle which I quickly cloned out since his butt did not help the photo at all... :P
