I finally get around to forcing myself to wake up early, and get out to one of my favourite haunts for sunrise.

Waterlands collection

Three of the images are from a previous trip (and some of you know them aleady). I think the adittions are worthy company. Opinions?

Some great images here,

I was surprised to see the morning mist, as in Gloucestershire we had a really bright start to the day.

It was only at about 2.00pm that the weather started to change...

Ed, those photos are very beautiful!
I had a hellish time picking a favourite, but finally settled on River Stour 3. However, if I lived in the house of River Stour 8, then I'd have to call that my favourite.

Fortunately/unfortunately, no-one lives in the house: it's a tea-shop.

River Stour 1 has to be my fav ... the ducks do it for me every time ; )
The mound of earth pretending to be a swan in #3 came pretty close though, and the tea shop shot is indeed a beauty. #6 is another standout.

Top notch as usual Ed, thanks for getting up early : )

That's a seriously outstanding bunch of shots e, bravo. I occasionally venture out myself early, looking for those damp, foggy mornings. Wonderful time to be out, and the camera just adds an exclaim!

Hmmmmmmm... If you are asking how any of these would have done in the free study I would say that this one would have done best:

However, you are getting advice from a guy whose chosen image is currently below 6 in that challenge. So take that with a grain of salt. :)

As you know it is more difficult to predict how something will do in a challenge than it actually does. We all guess wrong at times and wish we did not.

Of course, it does not help when, after the fact, people rave to you how great it WOULD have done in their opinions. That means nothing about how it actually would have done. :)

In your case I like your images. I do not believe there is a ribbon winner in there, but I think there are good shots. I liked the one I did because is is a well done backlighted, fog image with a wonderful reflection in the water that makes it an appealing composition. It is well done technically, which is a prerequisite for me with any image. I would guess it would be a top 20 percent finisher in a challenge I think has a lot of good images already, maybe higher.

Thanks for all those replies. So if I have to submit, say, four of them, people would go for 3, 8, 6 ... and 1? Anyone else like to make a suggestion - these need to have popular appeal, so I'm asking a popular opinion :-)
