i think technically the photos on the bottom are far better than the submitted one. however, i think, and i also found myself voting down abandoned building entries that didn't actually show a building.

i know i made a crucial mistake with the two borders, top and bottom, on my submitted image. how do you guys think you would have voted different on the image without the borders.

Brad,
I didn't vote in this one, but I like your entry quite a bit. However, I like your first outtake better.
Who knows about the voting mobs, but I wouldn't think a partial building would be taken any differently than a whole building. |

I rather liked your photo Brad and scored it a 7. I have scrutinized your outakes, and I still prefer your submission.

Your submitted shot had far better composition than the alternate in my opinion. The alternate had about a 50/50 mix between subject an negative space, making it difficult to look at without a visual fight. |

I agree with Brad, your submitted one was much stronger in all areas, was the colour one not to your liking ? wouldn't mind seeing it.
Paul.
p.s. I like the history you included very much.

What I liked the most about my image...
...was what everyone else hated the most (the car).
I liked the image, and am proud of it, but I do regret that it was not well received. Oh well, to each their own.
I found a more unique subject, but couldn't get a decent shot of it that was pleasing:
Maybe next time...
I had a great time viewing this challenge...I find the abandoned buildings more intriguing to see than a great deal of the photos on this site. Again, to each their own. |
