Is it a brass/metalic door handle plate? |

I think it's pink jello in a bowl reflecting your kitchen. |

Hey! that's what I was gonna say!
Pink jello in a stainless bowl, but focused on the bowl.

Alright, time's UP people!
The (very obscure) "clue" I mentioned earlier was phreakon's mention of a delicatessen. A friend brought over some delicatessen hot dogs, the skinny kind with the red casings. We boiled them in a stainless pot and the water turned pink from the red dye. I didn't clean this up, and the next morning (this morning) I happened to look at the pan before emptying it and saw this really sweet color and metallic underlay, all lit by my trusty north skylight, which is over the kitchen, so I snapped a shot of it. That's it; water, red dye, stainless pan, macro.
Now, the reflections; the rectangular shape is my kitchen window, which is framed by pine wood. The bright, skinny oblong shape is an exposed overhead beam in my kitchen. The cabinets are white, and the handles are stainless steel arcs. The round shape is, indeed, my camera lens. The bright areas being brought up by the forensic post-processing are just the skylight source itself, I believe.
That's my story, and I'm sticking to it. Thanx for the good fun! Does anyone LIKE the picture? I kinda doubt it, but I'm curious. I'm rather fond of it, in a limited sort of way, but I don't really expect anyone else to be...

ooh - the skylight had me on the orientation front.
Was there a person reflected in the lens, or was that a genuine miraculous apparition?
The pic on your website of your kitchen makes the whole thing a lot clearer.
Nice kitchen by the way.
I tried for half an hour to take a picture of some beetroot soup packets in a supermarket because food colours can be quite interesting - never quite caught the full vibrancy (but that's shop lighting for you). Other shoppers did look a little confused. |
