This is one of my older shots (probably one of the first I took with my camera) that I just recently cropped and edited. Just wondering what you guys think...

I like the toning here. What do you like about it? I think that it is a good shot with a story behind it. Technically, perhaps, you could bring out some "real" whites but it looks pretty good to me.

What I liked was all the clutter. Usually a busy photo isn't that great, but here everything relates. And it's a small town up on the north side where a lot of locals live (less whites) but it's turning into a little tourism area (tryig to catch up to Waikiki) so it just really shows the consumerism there with all the ads in the window and stuff. I also liked the lines in the photo and how they point toward the person.
I cropped out the left side of the photo because there was a really bright sky and a girl making a weird face.

I dig the composition a great deal. I like the toning alright, but I don't like that the blacks look sorta red. |

By whites I meant the tones of the surfboards and the boy's shorts, not the race of the people! Sorry for the misunderstanding! |

No, I knew what you meant by whites. I wasn't replying to that. Hah hah.

It's a very good shot of a sort we see too few of; lots of information crammed into a small space, busy as hell and feels just right. If I were gonna pick nits I'd ask for a little more foreground. I don't know if that's possible from the original. And there's a blob on the right that isn't helping much, but cropping it out would be worse. Wouldn't be hard to clone, if you're so inclined... Left side cropping looks fine to me, the advertising "board" is nicely placed to define that edge.
Robt.
Here it is with the blob cloned out:

It's a nice photo, cluttered but ok, since most of the subjects are the same thing. Exposed pretty good too. try a little more sharpening.
