Now I am considering, which lens is neutral in color. I have read about other factors such as sharpness, etc. and these lenses but now I am looking for information about color with these lenses.

Thank you for sharing!

I don´t have a clue since I have never ever used the sigma but if you have any other L lens it should be comparable to that in regards of how the colour responds. As a matter of fact I can´t tell a difference from the 24-70L and the 70-200L IS when both are at 70mm in terms of sharpness, colour and contrast. I haven´t done side by side comparisons either or shot rulers and don´t plan to either, I couldn´t care less because I love the images that come out of these lenses but it´s more just a feeling I get from these lenses.

I wouldn't worry about color neutrality. A slight cast is so easily removed in post that it doesn't matter. What's more important, IMO, is saturation & contrast. From personal experience, I can tell you that the Canon version (I have the f/2.8) is exceptional in this regard. I also have found no color cast with the Canon lens.
When all is said and done, either of these lenses will do a great job, what you are really getting with the Canon is the L build quality (not to be minimized, it's built like a tank), the weather sealing, extremely fast USM AF (the Sigma does not compare) and a higher expected resale value, if that concerns you at all.

Canon L glass is known for it's supernatural saturization. I consider this a benifit as it's easier to lose color than to get it. The Sigma i've heard has a slight yellowish cast. I think the canon is a better all around lens. Is it worth the price difference to you? That's your call ;-)

I am in the market for a 100-400m canon EF/L.

I currently am using a sigma 100-300mm. Its an ok lens, but the lens is too slow.

the canon is a longer lense set, but yet is a much faster lens then the sigma. the things i do with sigma, i can get even better shots with the canon.

I think thats what you should be looking for is the speed of the lens. for every f stop I acheive on the lens, the more flexability I have in post.

Canon lens are about the best lens out there, pricey yes, but worth every penny.
