You never know what you will find when you go where you arent supposed to. I found this on a farm that has been dead for 30 years. She probably was feeding in the field next to thefarm and fell here and the owner had no idea where she went. More common then you think, Ill find cow skulls in creek beds all the time. Really didnt smell that bad, the sewage lagoon next to the property overpowered and rotting smell.

mrmojo, My guess this is only a month or so old. Complete decomosition would take only a few months in summer, fly maggots, predators/scavengers, etc. would devour this cow slower in colder climates, but as soon as it warms, they're off to supper. In 30 years, there would be nothing but a few scattered bone at the most.

I think mrmojo was saying that it wandered over from an active farm next door and ended up dying at the inactive farm. The owner probably couldn't find her because he would have been looking on his own farm. |
