I know when I was first starting out setting up shots, it helped me a ton to see how other people did it, so I thought I share a couple setup's with anyone who might be interested:
Pet Portrait - Easy one, make a noose, add a glass jar and a snake. Bounce the flash off the ceiling with a non-reflective black background.
Rubber Ducky - Another easy one, but required more parts. Again I bounced the 420ex flash off the ceiling, as well as having a flashlight fixed on the ramp, and a clamp light on the duck (both the flashlight and the clamp light were more or less negated by the overwhelming 420ex flash ... but I did use 3 light sources)
Hope this helps someone :) |

What exactly is your little colubrid friend there? He (she?) is a cutie.

she's a melanistic corn snake ... much to all my friends dissappointment, i never gave her a name - if an animal doesn't respond to it's own name, it doesn't deserve one.

Thank you for your tips, it's nice to see a simple set up at home. I work in a studio where I set up pictures all day long, then I get home and I don't have the fancy equipment to work with, any suggestions for lighting until I can afford to get my own real flashes.
Also on a side note, my cat doesn't respond to his name, but he still has one, my husband doesn't respond sometimes either :) |
