I do NOT want to be on the receiving end of any more votes from pissed off people who took pictures of piE or circles and are now getting stomped. Seems everyone votes angrily after their scores from the previous week. What's the thought process there? "Well if my masterpiece was a 4, you can bet that your piece of crap is a 2."
Damn people - don't forget you can change your votes and comments when you calm the hell down.

I'm with mavrik on this one, though not quite as emphatically, and with less cursing.
I love my Pi submission, and I'm getting stomped so far. |

Yeah and another thing!
My scors was a 7.8 after 10 votes last night. I go to sleep. I wake up and see that my score has dropped to a 5.4 with 35 votes. Ow!

By the way mav, I haven't voted yet, so I'm not one taking out my frustrations on you. I'll wait until Wednesday or so, when I'm more preoccupied with candy and weather to be frustrated with my crappy Pi and Colors scores. |

lol It's ok - your first post was hilarious.
I was just surprised. Last Monday I only had one entry, I figured it would do crap and it was - then it went up. Two Mondays ago I had one entry and it was doing as well as I'd wanted it, and three Mondays ago I didn't get to post an entry. So...I dunno, just "surprised" at the voting. I did a pretty straightforward entry for both - didn't think I'd be flogged. lol

I voted in the Pi challenge this morning, though I didn't think myself a curmudgeon. I did give more lower scores than usual (low for me is 3s and 4s--I just don't give many 1s or 2s). I have no 10s, which is very unusual for me.
But as you say, I usually look at them several times and move them around. I suspect I'll have a few 10s by the end of the week, but I think the images or Pi are generally of lower quality than other challenges: out of focus, poor lighting and composition, etc. I've been pretty liberal about Pi interpretations. On the other hand, there are a few very nice ones that I'll be wanting to look at more closely as the week progresses. But Mavrik is right: it's good to go back and check your votes!

Well, all I can say is...if you entered ANYTHING in the Pi challenge, I'm giving you at the very least, a 5. I couldn't think of a thing for this challenge, and am scoring all who entered pretty darn high just for doing so!

Heh... I started at 7.5 after my first few votes, now I'm down to 6.3 or so. But that's cool :). If it stays there it'll be my highest ever score! |

Overall I think the "PI" challenge was misinterpreted.
It is about taking pictures of curves, not taking pictures of the PI symbol or calculated values, though many of the images that did that are very, very cleverly done.
Though my image is not imaginative I think it is very professionally done and deserves far better than the 4.6 it is currently at.
I'll be interested to see how this challege winds up.

What do curves have to do with pi? It's a number that pertains to circles and elipses, but not curves in general. The challenge description simply described pi as a symbol and a number, then said "now go and photograph it". To me, that means photos of the number or symbol are right on the subject, and those that use circles or elipses show knowledge of how the number is calculated. Visuals puns to do with pies are also fine. |

Too many people taking too obvious a view of the challenges. Lookat the symmetry challenge instructions and look at the results.

This is a ridiculously closed-minded view of the challenge. The challenge says photograph pi, not try to think conceptual circles around its meaning (no pun intended).
My photograph, which is at least decently composed and presented, is taking a sound trouncing because people are maligning my "creativity" as lacking. I've never had a photograph in the mid-3 range before, and it's disturbing. Lighten up, folks.
