We don't use the word "candy" in Australia at all. We use "lollies" for sweets that don't contain chocolate, and "chocolates" for those that do :). Anything else on the list of things called "candy" in the US generally has its own specific terminology here.
I really can't stand the word for some reason. It sounds ugly! I don't think I'll be submitting. |

As how the voting usually goes...take the most literal definition. Candy...the first thing that comes to my mind is that red and white peppermint swirl. If you want the masses vote, there ya go. (C:

As usual, there is little correlation with the actual score of the photo and its conformity to the forum interpretations. If you have to ask if chocolate or ice cream could be counted, for instance, you're answering your own question. Most of the voters will vote on their gut instinct of what 'candy' is, and a large percentage will vote favourably to the most accepted definition. So, go with your gut. My instinct is that sugary, commercial confections will score the best. Think M&Ms, Smarties etc. Ice cream will get shot down, as will a chocolate bar. Go with extremely narrow interpretation in case of any doubt. Doubt is bad here. |

Funny, that's exactly what I thought of first...a peppermint swirl in a twist wrapper. |
