I might be alone or maybe just new to the agonizing pain of sitting here for 7 days watching the scores, participating in discussions about the current challenges without giving away too much, etc.
Would 3 or 5 days be better for the voting period? |

After the firt 100 or so votes the score doesn't change much -- this is usually achieved within the first few days (or hours), so the time isn't needed to 'settle' the score.
However, being an international site with members that have many different ideas on what is a 'normal' week for them, and all of us having different times during our respective 'normal' week to participate -- it's best to keep the period long enough to give everyone a chance to be counted.
I would say however, that I would not be against speed challenges having a speed voting period comparable to the submittion time limit.

I think the 7 day period is OK. Its kind of like a two-edge sword, if your voting 7 days sometimes don't seem long enough when you have more than two challenges at one time. But on the other hand If you have a photograph entered it seems like eternity for the 7 days to pass by. |

That's a fair compromise.
I wonder if some analysis would show how many votes are cast in the last 3 or 4 days. If it is 10% or less, seems reasonable to shorten the period. |

...in thinking about this, I realize not everyone votes on ALL entries all at once. That is probably a good reason to keep the period long - especially as the number of entries increases. |

A few things come to mind.
1. As an entrant I don't like the week period of waiting for results. Especially because the score is only changing by tenths or hundredths of a point after the first couple of days.
2. However, as a voter I often find a week to be the required period of time to view all of the hundreds of entries. I don't want to force myself to sit down for hours at a single stretch to vote.
3. When I find time to participate but the challenge topic is uninteresting to me I often wish it would end sooner.
So I guess 2/3 of me wants a shorter voting period. |

I don't know about anyone else but sometime I don't have enough time to vote. Most time I finish up voting on the last day. |
