I'm thinking about uploading a custom curve into my D70, at the moment I'm planning to use fotogenetic's EV3 v4.1 curve as this is very close to what I end up doing manually to 90% of the images I post process.

Anyone else using custom curves?

Edit: a good curve comparison can be found here

I am using White Wedding.

I also have recently started experimenting with custom curves - the "white wedding" which I think is now called Point & Shoot (on the same fotogenetic website as colda's EV3). I have to say that I'm not really 100% sure about it - I think mainly because I don't have a good understanding. From what I've read, it seems that if you use and understand curves in Photoshop then the custom curves make sense in the camera. I'm pretty unexperienced with post-processing and I'm thinking that a better way to approach it is to take out the custom curve, get and play with photoshop so I can see what they do, then make an informed choice about custom curves; which one to use, when they make sense, how they will affect my exposure and other decisions I have to make when taking the picture.

If anybody has some good resources for learning such things, I'd appreciate hearing about them!

i haven't used a custom curve at all yet, but have been wanting to try it.

i would like to know how it affects the RAW file? if you shoot in RAW with a custom curve, will that already be factored in when you bring the shot into nikon capture? i use capture and photoshop to do a ton of work in curves...
