I just got a new hp ipaq and it has a universal remote program. I can enter specific remote codes, so does this mean I can fire the shutter wirelessly on my nikon using the pocket pc? if so how do I go about doing this?

dunno, try reading the documentation. Look for the term "learning remote".

A quick search on google found this little gem

"For anyone with access to a universal remote control, PocketPC Remote Software, Nevo on certain iPAQ's or PlamOS Remote Control apps etc, Sanyo Code 0163 will function as a remote iR shutter trigger for the Nikon D70"

hope this helps
