I am in the midst of finalizing the purchase of an 80-200 f/2.8L - the magic drainpipe. Now here'e the best part.

I'm paying $700 Canadian ($560 USD)!

It's in great condition from a seller I trust and it's coming with filter, hood, caps, etc.

I tell you this because nobody else understands me like you guys do...at least not in this sense.

All my wife knows is that two weeks ago I had a choice between a 16-35 f/2.8L and a 70-200 f/2.8L and decided to buy the wide angle...It's on the way...and now I just finished telling her the good news about the drainpipe and how much money I've saved! (she doesn't see it that way)

...needless to say, I'm doing the dishes tonight.

We are so poor now. But my wife still loves me.

Since you're so poor, wanna make a quick $20 profit...? ;-)

Hehe...Well, I told my wife that if I look at the books and there's no way we can keep it, I'll resell it and easily make a little money...

I'll make sure to find a way, though...even if it means selling my Yamaha APX acoustic/electric

*fighting back the tears*

....No! There must be another way!

Why did you put this in the Rant?
04/06/2005 12:52:43 PM · #5
Because it's a self-focused thread that doesn't serve any purpose for the greater good...wait a minute, that's like a lot of threads around here (such as "Yay, I reached 94 favourites!")!

Good question!

Great news Mike, and very glad to see everything is working out. I do recall the problems you recently had with some vendor on eBay. Guess that means we won't be meeting in Belleville after all huh??? My loss I guess... but then again I could always meet you at one of the Toronto get togethers.

Looking forward to seeing some of the pics you take with your new lens.

Unfortunately (yet fortunately) not...that seller was a lot of trouble, even if he didn't intend it.

It's too bad, though...my wife and I wanted to go to Belleville soon anyhow to check out Loyalist College. That's likely where I'll be going to school in September 2006 for their Photojournalism program. That's why I'm making all of these insane investments!

I'm guessing you haven't told your wife about your recent "Gender Change?" :-)

It's so I can cheat for the boys vs. girls challenge...should there ever be one...but man, this can't go on forever.

Standing up and peeing has been a real mess the last day or so.

Are we still talking about the lens or the sex change? ;-)

My daugter is trying...i'm teaching my 4 year old son, well more like reminding him at this point, and my 18 month old daughter is trying to copy us.

To stay more on point of this thread, i too am in trouble...my Metz 54-MZ4 and lightsphere II arrived today. $300 for the whole deal -"See honey, I saved $150!" did not go as far as i had hoped. Considering I was planning on getting a Sigma for $170 this whole deal did not sit well with her. I tried to soften the pain with the "I can save us $1500 - I will paint the house instead of paying someone else"...that started a whole 'nuther argument, er, discussion, about unfinished projects.

I got her Jeep fixed today...that may help, and Friday I'm taking her to play the slot machines ... perhaps she'll win big we can fight over a new lens!

Aaahhhh, the test pictures.

I hope nobody walks in and wonders why I'm drooling at a picture of a chainlink fence on my monitor...

It's soooo sharp and yet soooo smooth, especially at full size...speaking of sharp, this dress is pretty snazzy too.

Wooooooooooohooooooooooooooo!!!!!

My wife just called and the magic drain pipe arrived this morning!

So not only did I get the lens, caps, cheapy filter, tripod ring, hood and hard case for $700 Canadian...but shipping w/ insurance was included!

I don't know if I'll ever find a deal like that again!
