a couple more pics from today....I thought they were interesting...but not sure I captured what I felt when I looked at them...any comments or suggestions are welcomed....thanks....

Not so appealing as your others: the top one is too... how should I put it, uninteresting? Perhaps too harsh, it is not the object that is uninteresting, it is the light - there are no shades that stick out, everything is uniformly pinkish-red.
The second one is more promising. However, you cutt off the heads of the nails, and the photo almost lost something, In general I am not for stuffing everything in a frame, but in this case I would prefer the whole object.
You can try playing with e.g. sepia tones for both of these. If you decide to play with the top one, be sure to increase the dynamic range by tweaking levels and using dodge&burn on those shadows.
I hope this makes sense. I am tired and thoughts are escaping me... should get some sleep and continue in the morning.
