Thanks for that alphabet poster, now I have some inspiration. But as it goes, I'll probably find the ideal one the day after the challenge closes!!!

John's project involves taking a picture of an object that begins with a certain letter of the alphabet, not taking a picture of something that actually looks like a letter.

mk,

that was alphabet soup. The other one (picture alphabet) actually showed things that look like a letter.

I must admit though, that those were mostly staged photos, not naturally occurring images.

"The shape of letters can be found in nature and in other objects. Create an interesting photograph containing something which has the shape of a letter but wasn't intended to be one."

The challenge description seems to imply that setting up a shot is grounds for disqualification...is that the case? I know that people will most likely vote the non-set-up shots higher, regardless, but it is still good to get this possible sticking point out of the way in advance.

So, any thoughts?

A few were "staged", but, with the exception of 'V', none of the objects photographed were originally intended to be letters (thus, IMHO, "naturally occurring").

there were about 250 occurences of the letter "T" in the last challenge :)

I am such a dork. I read Pedro's comment and was thinking to myself, crosses have a section on the top of the T, so they aren't really T's.

Yeah, here in Canada they don't teach lower case letters.. Yep that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

ok after 2 days of switchin between two photos for thechallenge. I have managed to beat a bruise the size of a walnut on my forehead from banging it against the wall. So I decided to ask my friends to decide which of the two to submit. After asking 10 people the score is tied 5 to 5. Wich to submit....the vague but technicaly good one.. or the blatant yet slightly imperfect one?... How do you you decide?

perhaps I should have typed: 'the letter "t" '

didn't mean to make it so confusing. ;)

@triskalisk: choose the one that you'd rather have in your portfolio forever, since you can't delete challenge images :)

You always were a smartie pants (using pants for the younger audience) Pedro.

Tiskalisk, Your bruise wouldn't happen to be in a shape of a letter? Have you checked in the mirror - could be fate!

Method 1: Close my eyes and imagine them both--the one that is more clear in my memory is the one I choose.
Mehtod 2: Ask my husband and go with the other one. =)

LOL I'm so busted. I'm supposed to be crunching some rather serious numbers and now everyone around me is wondering what I am laughing out loud at. Now i'm going to have to wander around for the next hour randomly laughing and talking to myself so they think it's stress.

I am a bit concerned about how to title my photo. At the moment I have just called it by the letter it represents. But I dont know if thats agaist any sort of "challenge etiquette" (I remember the "Three" challenge)

Its either that, or i call it "Splinter in the minds eye whilst I weep for the calamity of creation" or something else equally as random!

carrying around a headless chicken while ranting about "The Evil Demons" you work for should help get them off your back too.

@cheeky: I'd call your picture "3"

Checks desk drawer: slinky, velma doll (with head), silly putty, stale gum, paperclip "art" collection, more post it notes then anyone should ever be blessed with, bosses missing favourite pen (he he he) hmmm no headless chicken...

I just re-entered a photo that I yanked two days back. It's funny and I think people will appreciate that aspect of it, for sure but I just couldn't get the lighting right and due to the strong lighting it will now also fail for a slight lack in sharpness(partly due to resizing).

I hope y'all enjoy it and I hope you're gentle.

...I still might yank it again, on second, third... No, fifth thought.
