I took the top photo here today while Megan was sleeping in my arms, and I sat at the computer.. and it reminded me of the bottom photo so much, that I quickly threw them together for a comparison.

I'm not trying to be artsy or do a nice dyptych or anything.. I just find it so amazing that such a tiny little baby could grow into.. well.. Megan.

I'm just sharing because I wanted to. No other reason. I guess I'm feeling a little emotional lately, and want to spread that around some. Get away from this "scores! scores! scores!" and "technical! technical! technical!" once again :)

"Beautiful Beautiful! Beautiful", "Love! Love!, Love"..Far more important in my opinion.

Well seen...Well felt, well expressed.

You've touched a nerve for me here...

I've had a pretty amazing emotional ride over the last wee while as well, with loosing a good friend and our daughter changing our lives in so many ways. I hope you don't mind if I leap in.

1 Week:

19 months:

Too often we forget the small things, and in this life we really only have our memory call our very own.

Taking time to take in and enjoy memories is of greater importance than all other things in our short lives combined. Use your minds eye, and take a mental note of the things that move you, so that you might take them out and dust them off when things arn't so good.

Maybe it's a side effect of modern technology, but often (and more so on this site) we focus on the technical niceties of photography when it's real power is in capturing those moments that lift your heart, and carry you on a journey through memories you keep to yourself.

That shot of myself and phoebe in the church is my favourite photo in ages. At 100% it's terrible, and only the 640 resize makes it look technically OK, but I've got a tear in my eye as I type this. All the parents on the site will know exactly what I mean.

To quote an old friend (Not sure if it's his or not):

"Life is about creating memories, you'd better make sure they're damn good ones, becauase where you're headed they're all that matter."

Get out there and make some memories, and Thanks for sharing Artyste.

Cheers, Me.

heh. I first posted this almost two years ago here. The first shot - August 1970; the second - October 2000. 30 years and two months apart...yet nothing has changed :)

My daughter's birth was the most amazing thing to me. It has changed me in so many ways... Here I am trying to share a sleeping moment with her...
