we are thinking of taking a trip in a few weeks to visit death valley during this rather rare season of wildflower blooms.
anyone else planning to check it out, already been, or live near by with any suggestions on efficient travel in the area.
it's not definate, but seems like something worth checking out.
my father was out there last week, and is really pushing me to go.
my thoughts are to rent a vehicle we could sleep/camp in to cut back on early morning, and evening travel. moving about during mid day. i figure we would have 3 or 4 days in/near the valley, and maybe a day or two in vegas - we have never been to either location.
thanks

Hell yeah I'm intrigued. I saw a PBSish special on the wildflowers. Amazing what a little rain will do :p
I don't know how long the flowers peak, though. I heard they'll only hang out for a month or so! I'd go if I could, but I can't, so I ain't.
But if you do go, have a blast! Your itinerary ideas sound truly awesome! Viva Las Vegas!

Wow, I understand that Death Valley is just crazy with flowers because of all the rain this winter. It hasn't bloomed like this in many, many years. I wish I could go, Tim! Please go so we can be there with you when you show us your amazing photos!

Looks like wildflowers may be peaking in Death Valley about now.
You can monitor Death Valley wildflower activity at this web site:

I'd be very surprised if the wildflowers lasted until late April or into May. I'm in Southern Arizona and we are at the height of the wildflower season here right now.
