What are some good tips to use for shooting a rock concert? Its in a small theater with low colored lights and loads of movement. I'm shooting it tonight and want to make every shot count 'cause I love this band.

Yea no flash..that's a quick way to get thrown out.

I used a Canon 70-200 F2.8L but for really really small venues can be too long.

Have fun! It's a concert! You're working yea, but what's the point of having a cool job if you're not having a good time? Get some wide shots (include the crowd if you can) and get some close shots of the band. That's about as technical as it gets, just be ready! No dangling camera syndrome.

P.S. If there's a lot of red it'll be harder to get print shots since they don't convert to B&W well.

Fast Glass. But just be careful with your Depth of Field at the larger apertures.

I think you might have to increase the ISO. I met a photographer at a concert recently, and he told me he shot at 1600.

Have a great time!
