It'll take some time for me to shrink all the thumbnails and rebuild the gallery. Just asking for comments on layout and design for now.

I would say try to keep the thumbs the same size. |

Yeah, the plan is to make 100x100 thumbs, but it'll take me a while to get through all of them.

Prob just gonna write my own. I have a php/mysql site generator that I wrote for another site, just gonna grab it and tweak so it has gallery functionality.

Looks nice. Nice simple layout, achieves what it sets out to do.
Not sure if you have it available but Photoshop CS has a pretty nifty function (under the browser) to re-size images for web including generating thumbnails. This can be batched. (I prepared a 100 images from a recent trip in about 10 minutes)

Something like that exists in PS 7 too. Haven't played with it much but it is fast and handy. I'm gonna run into a problem though if I make everything 100x100 since I have to worry about the crop.

Looks good. Neat and professional layout. You might consder shrinnking the top frame, where mikewong photography is written. It takes up a lot of space which isn'T put to good use. Maybe you should write your name and 'photography' in one line instead of one below the other?
I use Firefox 1.02 on WinXP at 1280x800.

The logo is 50 pixels tall. I went ahead with your suggestion and shrunk the margins so there's only 5px on top and bottom but it's not any more than what other sites use (in fact it takes up less space than the DPC header). Tried the photography thing on the side but it didn't look good, logo is already at 4:1 format.
Landscape Gallery
The landscape gallery is up and running. I wanted to see what it'd look like with 100x100 thumbnails, pretty happy with it so far. I don't think I'll get the rest of the galleries up just yet though, gonna divert time to coding the content management stuff first. I'll probably change out the images on the main page when I wake up but that's pretty much it for major changes for the time being.

You're right. For some reason I thought it was a frame which wouldn't scroll with the rest of the page. That is not so. It's good the way it is now. Oh, and two rows of thumbs instead of one are definately an improvement. Good job.

For some reason, thumbnails appear to be more saturated than the actual sized images. Feels a little misleading. Optical illusion or different processing?

Fixed the IE crash. It was the javascript line that was supposed to take care of the min-width issue. The good news is that I took it out so it's stable again. The bad news is that since IE doesn't recognize min-width attributes, the images will jump at any resolution lower than 1024. Gotta figure out a cleaner way around it.
Thanks for the comments everyone.
*edit*
Using the min-width fix from pvii. Looks like it's running stable for me so I'll try that.
