Reminds me of the time I was Mountain Biking, my dog running with me and we encountered a flock of turkeys. They were big and I felt a little like I was in Jurrasic Park. We went down the same path a little and they ran into the forest.

Thanks for the help on inserting the picture. Scuds, I love what you did-what did you do? Also, can you please tell me what you think of the picture? Many Many thanks, gwendy

Depth of field is good. Usually around animals I like using burst mode to try to get the best shot. They never hang around long enough to get the shot you really want. Did you use the full 12X zoom of your camera? If not maybe a closer crop of an individual turkey would be interesting.

I feel a bit of sharpening(unsharp mask) would help possible to bring out some of the feather details. Looks like a tiny bit of blur. Were you using the the IS mode (an't always do the job depending on conditions but sometimes helps.)

A bit overexposed on the head. I like using the highlight mode or the histogram feature to find out if it's over or under exposed. Sometimes you have a subject that does give you enough time to change the settings
(like this) but sometimes you can experiment with the settings.

About the original. Focus should have been sharper on the head of the center turkey. When taking pictures of birds it is usually best to either include the entire animal, feet and tail included, or to get a tight head or head and shoulder shot.

About the edited version. When doing wildlife shots it is always better to err of the side of under processing. The colors of these turkeys are way too vibrant to be natural.
