A lot of voters gassed me up when they left comments such as, "should ribbon" or "should be in the top 5" I recieved just a couple but that was enought to make me start thinking. However top twenty five is well deserved I think. I did not edit the photo, Only sharpened.

I noticed a lot of photos had been "finished" with a border or other processing. While stock agencies like objects isolated against a white BG, they generally prefer (demand) images such as this fine landscape to be submitted without the border -- that decision is up to the designer who downloads the image.

I certainly agree that the stock agency wouldn't want the border. In fact, if I were to print one of my images, I would NOT include the borders I use when displaying the image on a computer monitor.

But the thing is ... I wasn't giving the image to a stock agency. I was putting it up on the site to be viewed and voted upon. And for that purpose, the border felt appropriate.

That was my point earlier.

I didn't particularly deduct for borders anyway, but I really felt that included in the challenge "shoot a stock photo" was the implication that we were to shoot a photo we would submit to a stock agency, not to show a finished composition with a photo which could have been downloaded from a stock agency. I think we were cast in the role of agency photographer, not designer/subscriber.

BTW: I had already submitted my entry to Shutterstock and had it accepted before the voting even started -- just barely broke 5 here though ...

Congratulations to the winners, deserving photos for sure.

I thought this one was great! 25 is great, but should have broke the top 10 IMO.

Also this one is georgeous, should have done much better than 84th!
